Friends of Parks Groups

Bury Knowle Park
By becoming a friend of your local park or open space, you can:

  • help improve it's appearance
  • have a say in it's facilities
  • improve it;d biodiversity
  • increase it's safety
  • meet new people
  • get exercise, improve your health and wellbeing
  • make a positive contribution to your local area
  • organise community events

The groups are independent, but work in partnership with the Council.

Friends Group Activities

The activities a Friends Group organise and participate in are largely up to the group themselves. Inofrmation and website links for Friends Groups in Oxford can be found below. Contact us using the enquiry form above if you would like more information on any of the Friends Groups listed.

Alexandra Park
The Friends of Alexandra Park are enjoying their improved play area. This autumn they have worked with the local school to plant bulbs in the park.

Aristotle Lane

The Friends of Aristotle Lane group are very active and now have monthly working groups and committee meetings. For dates and times please visit the Friends of Aristotle Lane website. Recently they have ben granted some trees, which will be planted in the next few months, and have just written their own management plan.

Bury Knowle Park
The Friends of Bury Knowle Park group held their AGM in January. During the autumn they were busy planting bulbs.. Visit the Friends of Bury Knowle Park website for more information about the group.

Cutteslowe and Sunnymead

The Friends of Cutteslowe and Sunnymead Park have been putting lots of work into the Community Woodland, with working groups and local school children helping to plant trees and to improve the area. Florence Park
The Friends of Florence Park is a group of park users who work with us to improve the park.

Hinksey Park
We are currently looking for active members of the Friends of Hinksey Park. If you would like to join the group, please contact us to find out more.

Kendall Copse
Many local people in the last two years have helped create a community woodland on the fields at the north end of Kennington Road. Visit the Friends of Kendall Copse website for more details.

Meadow Lane

Milham Ford Nature Park
New Marston Wildlilfe Group have been very busy maintaining and improving this area for wildlife. Visit the Milham Ford Nature Park website for more details.

Quarry Hollow Park

Quarry Hollow Park in Headington is unique, and a friends group are helping to preserve and enhance its character. The group is in the process of coming up with new ideas for the park. If you want to have a say, please contact us.

Raleigh Park
This group have been very busy improving the pont and natural waterfall. Over the festive holidays they also held a boxing day walk around the park.

St Mary & St John Churchyard
The restoration of the churchyard has been made possible by a great number of people giving their time, energy and expertise to advising, planning and working physically in the churchyard. Visit the SS Mary and John Church website for more details.

St Sepulchre's Cemetery
A working party regularly meet to help maintain and attract wildlife to this tranquil area of Jericho.

Trap Grounds
The Friends of Trap Grounds support the conservation and management of the Trap Grounds in north Oxford. The Trap Grounds are a three-acre reed-bed and three acres of scrubland, grassland, and woodland, lying between the canal and the railway line in north Oxford, just south of the Frenchay Road canal bridge.
