Florence Park

Location

Florence Park is in East Oxford, five minutes walk from Cowley Road. The postcode is OX4 3PW. Location Map.

The park opened in 1934 after the land was presented to the City by Councillor F.E. Moss in memory of his sister Florence.

What facilities does it have?

  • colourful and well maintained flowerbeds
  • bowls green
  • six tennis courts (charges apply)
  • miniature golf (charges apply)
  • children's play area
  • kiosk serving refreshments - open May to September 12noon-7pm every day (may close earlier at times of bad weather)
  • refurbished public toilets

Tennis Sessions - Let's get Oxford on Court!

Oxford City Council is working with Premier Tennis throughout the year to offer low-cost coaching for all ages and stages on Oxford's public tennis courts.

  • No court or membership fees
  • Equipment can be provided for free
  • Coaching sessions for just £5 per hour
  • Coach-supervised matches at £3.50 for 2 hours
  • All ages (3+) and abilities are welcome

Adult and junior coaching is taking place at Florence Park on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. For more details visit the Tennis Oxford website or call Joe on 07814 406987.

Play area available next to the Children's centre. Features include:

  • swings
  • wobbly bridge
  • springers
  • timber climbing feature
  • sensory garden
  • roundabout

Area for older children near the stream including:

  • tyre swing
  • zip wire
  • climbing frames

Florence Park is locked at the following times throughout the year and re-opens at 8am each morning:

Green Flag Award Winner

Florence Park was recently awarded a Green Flag Award from the Keep Britain Tidy scheme. The Green Flag Award is the national standard for parks and green spaces in England and Wales. The award scheme began in 1996 as a means of recognising and rewarding the best green spaces in the country.
