What can be recycled?

Redbridge recycles many items that we do not currently collect at the kerbside, including computers, car batteries, wood, rubble, car oil and furniture.

Visit our Recycling A-Z for information about what can be recycled and where.

The waste recycling centres accept a wide range of household recyclables and waste for disposal free of charge, except tyres and DIY waste.

Visit the Oxfordshire County Council website for details.

Trade and business waste

Businesses have a legal duty to dispose of their waste correctly. See our Commercial Waste page for more information on the services we can offer.

Business and commercial waste cannot be taken to Oxfordshire's Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs), which are for Oxfordshire residents to dispose of household waste.

Wall and railing heights

The walls and railings at the Waste Recycling Centres are the minimum height required under national Health & Safety regulations. If you cannot reach over the walls or railings to deposit your waste and recycling, please ask a member of site staff to help you.

Van and trailer permits

If you use a commercial-type vehicle that weighs under 3.5 tonnes laden, such as a van, pick-up or a trailer with a load bed of 1.8m to 3m (6 to 10 ft) in length, to take your household waste or recyclables to Oxfordshire's Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs), you need to apply for a free e-permit before visiting the site.

  • Box and Luton vans or any commercial-type vehicle weighing more than 3.5 tonnes laden are NOT allowed on the site.
  • The use of tipping mechanisms, lifts or ramps is NOT permitted on site.
  • Please note these restrictions also apply to hire vehicles.
  • Trailers with a load bed longer than 3m (10 ft) are NOT allowed on the site.

If you are hiring a commercial-type vehicle or trailer for three days or less the above restrictions apply.  However, you do not need to apply for an e-permit: just take the hire papers and proof of residence in Oxfordshire to the HWRC.

For further information, information about hired vehicles and to obtain a permit please visit the Van and Trailer Permits page of the Oxfordshire County Council website.

Pedestrian access

Pedestrians' are not permitted to walk into the site as there is no designated footpath or safe walkway. The site is vehicle access only.
