Food Safety at Outdoor Events and College Balls

Representatives of Commemorative Ball Committees and other outdoor events/festivals should notify the Environmental Health Department of the date of the event as soon as possible along with the names and telephone numbers of the representatives, (including a senior staff member, if a college ball) who may be contacted on the night.

Environmental Health Officers will carry out an inspection of the catering facilities provided at the event, along with general health and safety issues, they will also require you to provide them with a list of caterers who will be attending the event as well as a site plan.

It is appreciated that the organisation of a Commemorative Ball or Festival/Event is a complex business and the guidance given in the document below is therefore, quite extensive. It is not completely exhaustive however, and our Environmental Health Officers, are always ready to discuss matters not covered and to give advice.

If you have any queries on this guidance or need to contact us on a specific matter please contact us on 01865 249811 or email our Food Safety Team.
