As a county, Oxfordshire has to reduce landfill by 60% over the next 13 years or face penalties of £150 per tonne. The Oxfordshire Waste Partnership (OWP) has agreed a joint waste strategy to achieve this aim.
The main commitments of the strategy are:
The OWP consists of Oxford City Council, Vale of White District Council, West Oxfordshire District Council, Cherwell District Council, South Oxfordshire District Council and Oxfordshire County Council.
