Area Committees drive local projects and make decisions about local issues alongside key local partners, such as residents, the Police and NHS representatives.
They are also a forum for residents and local partners to have their say about local issues.
There are six Area Committees in Oxford:
If you are unsure of which area committee represents you, please have a look at our map below:

The Area Committees are responsible for the following services in their areas:
In addition, Area Committees play an active role in carrying out consultations to continually shape our services. Projects supported by the Area Committees can be viewed via our Community Projects page.
Each Area Committee is made up of the councillors who represent each ward within the area boundaries, as well as the Oxford County Councillors and parish councils for the area, although these are included on a non-voting basis.
Other public service representatives are linked with the Area Committees; including the Police and NHS.
Each Area Committee appoints its own Chair and Vice-Chair and is supported by Council officers.
Decisions are made every day on issues that affect local people. Area Committee meetings are open to the public. So visit your Area Committee meeting to make sure your voice is heard.
To view the Area Committee meeting dates and venues, please visit our Council Meetings pages. Agendas for meetings are produced one week prior to the meeting and can also be downloaded from this page.
Each Area Committee has an open session where you can raise any local issue. The Chair also invites comments from members of the public on other agenda items.
If you wish to speak at an Area Committee meeting it is useful to notify the Committee Secretary before the meeting. This helps us to research an answer for you. When you arrive at the meeting you should also fill in a speaker's form and hand it to a member of staff.
You can notify the Committee Secretary by email outlining which meeting you wish to attend and what you wish to speak on. Contact details can be found on the right of this page.
For a brief guide for visitors to Area Committee meetings please see our leaflet below:

Each Area Committee develops an Area Plan to outline their priorities for each area over the coming years. New plans should be finalised in Autumn 2009.
Do you have an idea for a project in your community? If so, your Area Committeee may be able to provide funding to help your idea become a reality.
We strive to deliver real improvements to help make communities safer, develop or maintain leisure facilities or to create a better environment. We want local people to let us know about any projects that would improve your community.
